Power Hungry can help your company save money in other ways?

Many insurance companies will lower a company's deductible if its trucks are governed by a speed limiter.

APPLICATIONS
Ford vehicles utilizing the Ford EEC-IV®, EEC-V®, or various Oak series Powertrain Control Modules (PCMs)

FEATURES
  • Adjustable Speed Limit (Reduces vehicle wear/abuse and helps promote safer driving practices)
  • Adjustable Rev Limit (Reduces vehicle wear/abuse)
  • Non-adjustable, modified shifting strategies (Assists in the improvement of fuel economy by lowering engine speed before shifts)
  • Improved fuel and timing curves (Assists in the improvement of fuel economy by increasing the efficiency of the combustion process)

Overall, customers should expect a reduction in fuel consumption in the range of 5% to 8% on average. Furthermore, the calibrations are designed to meet even the most stringent emissions test requirements, often resulting in cleaner emissions test than the factory calibrations. By reducing the speed and rev limiters along with specific shifting parameters, vehicle abuse can be minimized so that mean time between failures (MTBF) can be reduced and vehicle service life can be increased. Reducing the speed limiter may also provide a significant insurance savings, although this is entirely dependent on the insurance company.

  2% - 5% increase in shift pressure
15% - 20% reduction in shift slip time

OVERVIEW

Our programming is designed to be a non-intrusive, easily reversible means of increasing the performance of Ford vehicles. This is accomplished by either installing a module directly onto the service port (J3) of the Ford EEC-IV® or EEC-V® PCM, or by using a reflashing device. Either process will override the factory tuning. Our calibrations are designed to increase performance, maximize efficiency, and improve fuel economy.

OEM engineers weigh several factors when designing a calibration for any given vehicle, including things like temperature extremes, altitude extremes, driving conditions and fuel quality. To cover a broad range of driving applications and conditions, the engineers will use a “Lowest Common Denominator” method of tuning. This means they will account for the worst driving conditions and fuel quality possible while attempting to maintain reasonable performance and economy. Unfortunately, this type of conservative tuning leaves room for a great deal of improvement.

Power Hungry Performance calibrations are written to increase performance, maximize efficiency, and improve fuel economy and are based on specific fleet requirements such as how and where vehicles will be used. Our calibrations provide fleet owners with the best possible combination of performance and economy without adversely affecting the integrity or service life of the vehicle. Such performance tuning also improves vehicle emissions and is EPA legal in all 50 states.

With automatic transmission functions becoming more dependent on computer controls, many benefits can be achieved by tuning the transmission related functions. Improvements in shift programming increase performance by utilizing more of the engine’s operating RPM range or “power band”; reducing slip time between shifts has several benefits including reduced clutch plate wear and minimized fluid breakdown due to heat. This translates into longer service life, fewer repairs, and less downtime.
